Only on our local public radio KPFT Umm.. at 6am in the morning.. let’s just say some..cough.. most.. of us were still awake.
Here is the statement I wrote in the lead-up to the festival, part of which I read out at the seminar we gave:
“The Paris ’68 slogan: ‘Take your dreams for Reality’ can be taken as a practical methodology. Brain-washing, another related example, first requires breaking-down the subject’s psychic-integrity; their information processing and concomitant social values.
Art can be a third example, an alternative way of achieving some practical change. Through performance, my work takes a sideways look at language and cognition. the method is to unlock, jolt, or re-examine our ‘psychic-integrity’. I mean to find gaps – to show that reality is not fixed, but porous, fragile and reprogrammable. To examine what we take for granted – These are all forms of intellectual violence. Which is the first aim of my work.
Right now society is in the middle of exactly such a reprogramming phase. Example: God is ‘sort of’ dead; machines are ‘sort of’ alive; and we are somewhere between the two. The second aim of our work ought to be constructive: nothing less than helping to describe the language with which the world is programmed – and to reprogramme the world. This language will be music.

The aim of this symposium is to open a dialogue in relation to the power of the human body in space. Certain questions will be raised about how performance can influence the mind in a potent manner and help cultivate awareness and bring about a change of consciousness.
Each artist, will use video clips and images to explain their work and why they have chosen performance over other more conservative forms of creative expression. At the end of the symposium audience members will get the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session.
The fundamental of the fundamental of the fundamental of the fundamental of the fundamental of the fundamental?€¦ If by taking apart and putting back together we gain understanding of the world; Then, By taking apart and putting back together: taking apart and putting back together , May we gain some understanding of understanding ?!?€¦ It is as if re-asking a question to which we assume to have a definitive answer. It opens up a space of possibility?€¦ Its not about that, its much simpler, its much more than that, its much less?€¦ its just about taking things apart and putting them back together.
